Cristina and Sarah: Launching the GVL Ladies Club | EP 29

Cristina and Sarah: Launching the GVL Ladies Club | EP 29

The Greenville Ladies Club started as a small book club, maybe 10-15 ladies on the first night. Cristina Waingart Gerrald, originally from Greenville, SC, started this club in an effort to bring women together going through their mid 20's and 30's. As more social activities were thrown around as ideas, Cristina launched the ladies club, with Sarah Couch quickly jumping in to aid in the effort. Together, the two have launched a club inclusive to all ladies in the area looking for a fun night out.

00:00:08,640 --> 00:00:11,640
Today on the Carolina Business
Leaders Podcast, we are joined

2
00:00:11,640 --> 00:00:14,160
with the ladies behind the
Greenville Ladies Club.

3
00:00:14,520 --> 00:00:17,200
My wife Christina Wangard
Gerald, President and owner of

4
00:00:17,200 --> 00:00:20,320
the club, and our good friend
Sarah Mondo Couch, Vice

5
00:00:20,320 --> 00:00:22,280
President of Marketing and
Events.

6
00:00:22,680 --> 00:00:26,560
Both are from Greenville, SC and
graduates of Clemson University.

7
00:00:27,160 --> 00:00:29,760
Outside of their work with the
club, Christina works full time

8
00:00:29,760 --> 00:00:33,080
in family business and a family
business and financial services

9
00:00:33,280 --> 00:00:36,720
and Sarah is a real estate agent
newly with Coldwell Banker.

10
00:00:36,720 --> 00:00:38,800
Kane, Thank y'all so much for
joining me.

11
00:00:38,800 --> 00:00:41,200
Thank you.
For having me very excited.

12
00:00:41,720 --> 00:00:42,800
Yeah, it's going to be a fun
one.

13
00:00:42,800 --> 00:00:46,080
I mean obviously great group of
friends so, but going back

14
00:00:46,080 --> 00:00:48,240
before we even started the club,
how did y'all get connected

15
00:00:48,240 --> 00:00:51,000
initially?
Yeah, so Christine and I both

16
00:00:51,000 --> 00:00:54,280
played competitive volleyball,
and so just the volleyball

17
00:00:54,280 --> 00:00:56,760
community in Greenville, I feel
like everyone just knows

18
00:00:56,760 --> 00:00:58,440
everyone.
Which is a massive community,

19
00:00:58,440 --> 00:00:59,120
yeah.
It is.

20
00:01:00,360 --> 00:01:02,800
Yeah, and massive great
competitive community.

21
00:01:02,800 --> 00:01:05,519
And so I feel like that's how we
knew each other more.

22
00:01:05,680 --> 00:01:09,880
We are a year apart so never
played on the same team but just

23
00:01:10,320 --> 00:01:12,600
on the same court, probably
against each other or.

24
00:01:12,640 --> 00:01:15,440
Yeah, same practices, same
training, competitive

25
00:01:15,440 --> 00:01:17,880
atmosphere, her team playing my
team, that kind of thing.

26
00:01:17,920 --> 00:01:20,280
So we always know of each other,
which was kind of cool.

27
00:01:20,360 --> 00:01:22,080
So that's how y'all met, I
guess.

28
00:01:22,080 --> 00:01:24,240
That's how y'all became friends.
We became friends through

29
00:01:24,240 --> 00:01:26,640
volleyball and then you know how
things go.

30
00:01:26,640 --> 00:01:29,040
But it's kind of like, you know,
so we were in the same setting

31
00:01:29,040 --> 00:01:31,720
in high school volleyball, then
we went to Clemson and we were

32
00:01:31,720 --> 00:01:34,080
in different majors, different
friend groups.

33
00:01:34,080 --> 00:01:36,920
And then we did reconnect
through your brother Luke.

34
00:01:36,960 --> 00:01:38,520
And so that's what brought us
back together.

35
00:01:40,720 --> 00:01:43,160
If you're running a small to mid
sized business, you know,

36
00:01:43,160 --> 00:01:45,640
there's simply not enough hours
in a day to take care of all

37
00:01:45,640 --> 00:01:48,480
your business needs.
From managing health insurance

38
00:01:48,480 --> 00:01:51,560
to pay your role, procurement,
advertising, you're going to

39
00:01:51,560 --> 00:01:53,520
need some help to get that
initial momentum going.

40
00:01:54,080 --> 00:01:55,640
That's why I would partner with
Questco.

41
00:01:55,760 --> 00:01:58,680
They take care of all the behind
the scenes administrative and HR

42
00:01:58,680 --> 00:02:01,840
work, letting you focus on what
truly matters, which is running

43
00:02:01,840 --> 00:02:05,280
your business.
That's QUESTCO.

44
00:02:05,280 --> 00:02:09,240
Questco visit questco.net or
call your local Questco

45
00:02:09,240 --> 00:02:15,120
representative Thomas Owens at
864-477-0843 to get started

46
00:02:15,120 --> 00:02:17,520
today.
So we'll dive into the club a

47
00:02:17,520 --> 00:02:20,560
ton here obviously, but just a
little bit of background from

48
00:02:20,560 --> 00:02:22,480
each of you is just so people
trying to get to know you might

49
00:02:22,480 --> 00:02:24,360
be listening because they don't
really know much about you.

50
00:02:24,640 --> 00:02:26,120
Like what did you study at
Clemson?

51
00:02:26,120 --> 00:02:27,960
Why did you pick Clemson?
That sort of thing.

52
00:02:27,960 --> 00:02:29,480
You want to dive into that some?
Sure.

53
00:02:29,680 --> 00:02:32,320
Great question.
So we're all Clemson grads here,

54
00:02:32,360 --> 00:02:35,920
so go Tigers.
I studied accounting, so I was

55
00:02:35,920 --> 00:02:37,520
in the Clemson in Business
School.

56
00:02:38,160 --> 00:02:41,280
I knew I would probably go into
something with numbers.

57
00:02:41,280 --> 00:02:44,640
And so I did an accounting
internship throughout college.

58
00:02:44,680 --> 00:02:47,600
And internships are great
because you learn what you like

59
00:02:47,600 --> 00:02:50,720
and what you don't like.
And so in my internship, I

60
00:02:50,720 --> 00:02:54,040
quickly learned I love numbers,
but I need people time and

61
00:02:54,040 --> 00:02:57,720
accounting did not deliver that.
So I had to make an adjustment.

62
00:02:57,720 --> 00:03:02,160
And I knew about financial
services, my daddy's in the

63
00:03:02,160 --> 00:03:04,440
industry.
So quickly realized that's the

64
00:03:04,440 --> 00:03:07,520
route I need to go and that's
what I get to do today.

65
00:03:07,520 --> 00:03:10,000
So Clemson was a great
experience for me and I think

66
00:03:10,000 --> 00:03:12,200
tremendously helped me get
started on my career.

67
00:03:12,200 --> 00:03:13,240
Cool.
What about you, Sir?

68
00:03:14,160 --> 00:03:17,480
She has the brains.
Listen, I couldn't do this

69
00:03:17,480 --> 00:03:22,320
without Sarah, There's no doubt.
About that so I was an education

70
00:03:22,320 --> 00:03:24,640
major, but so you're.
Going to be a teacher.

71
00:03:24,840 --> 00:03:27,640
I thought so, you know, I wanted
to be a math teacher.

72
00:03:27,640 --> 00:03:30,000
I really like statistics, but
then that's.

73
00:03:30,040 --> 00:03:30,800
Brain.
That's number.

74
00:03:31,120 --> 00:03:31,680
Come on.
Yeah, but.

75
00:03:32,200 --> 00:03:35,560
You know.
Calculus kind of got me and I

76
00:03:35,560 --> 00:03:39,240
went to my financial or
financial advisor, my counselor,

77
00:03:39,240 --> 00:03:43,720
my counselor, school counselor,
and they were like, oh, you

78
00:03:43,720 --> 00:03:46,400
should try PRTM.
So PRTM is park, recreation,

79
00:03:46,400 --> 00:03:49,200
tourism management.
And I always knew I wanted to be

80
00:03:49,200 --> 00:03:52,200
in the service industry, help
people, serve others.

81
00:03:52,200 --> 00:03:54,400
So I was like, you know what,
I'll try it out.

82
00:03:54,400 --> 00:03:56,960
And so I have a degree in that.
And ever since I've been doing

83
00:03:56,960 --> 00:03:59,480
marketing and events.
So yeah.

84
00:03:59,560 --> 00:04:02,560
Did you know you would come back
to Greenville after college?

85
00:04:02,760 --> 00:04:07,000
Absolutely.
Even in high school, people want

86
00:04:07,000 --> 00:04:10,880
to leave Greenville or like and
go go other places.

87
00:04:10,880 --> 00:04:14,040
Like even in in college, like
people wanted after they're like

88
00:04:14,080 --> 00:04:18,040
all right, after Carolina or USC
or Clemson, they still want to

89
00:04:18,040 --> 00:04:20,000
leave.
And I always knew I wanted to

90
00:04:20,000 --> 00:04:21,320
come back.
I mean, Greenville's just

91
00:04:21,320 --> 00:04:23,360
growing so much.
And you know, I just want to be

92
00:04:23,360 --> 00:04:25,040
a part of it.
I was the same way.

93
00:04:25,040 --> 00:04:27,720
I think with having family here,
immediate family.

94
00:04:27,720 --> 00:04:30,840
I don't have a ton of family
here, but then to a family

95
00:04:30,840 --> 00:04:33,640
business built right here in
Greenville, the beautiful city

96
00:04:33,640 --> 00:04:36,000
of Greenville that we got to
watch growing up grow from what

97
00:04:36,000 --> 00:04:39,040
it was as to what it is now.
And then two, I felt like I had

98
00:04:39,160 --> 00:04:42,120
all different stages of
friendships here in Greenville,

99
00:04:42,240 --> 00:04:44,280
whether it was an elementary
school friend, a high school

100
00:04:44,280 --> 00:04:45,800
friend like Sarah, or college
friends.

101
00:04:46,000 --> 00:04:47,280
There was a great community
here.

102
00:04:47,280 --> 00:04:49,720
So just like you, I knew
Greenville was gonna be home.

103
00:04:50,000 --> 00:04:53,280
I can't relate to that.
Speaking for myself, I thought

104
00:04:53,280 --> 00:04:56,720
for sure, 'cause a lot of the
tech jobs for me are like Texas

105
00:04:56,760 --> 00:05:00,360
and California and the Northeast
and DC, which I didn't expect

106
00:05:00,360 --> 00:05:01,960
that initially, but yeah,
there's a lot in DC.

107
00:05:02,160 --> 00:05:03,840
So I thought I'd be anywhere but
here.

108
00:05:03,840 --> 00:05:05,480
And I don't know, God brought me
here.

109
00:05:05,480 --> 00:05:06,920
So it worked out kind of like
here.

110
00:05:07,160 --> 00:05:11,320
So yeah, I'm very happy that it
worked out here.

111
00:05:11,320 --> 00:05:13,600
So.
But so jumping into the ladies

112
00:05:13,600 --> 00:05:17,200
club, I would love to hear about
like how the idea got started,

113
00:05:17,200 --> 00:05:21,240
how y'all came together with it.
Just how did those pieces kind

114
00:05:21,240 --> 00:05:24,360
of come together?
Yeah, it's a fun story for us to

115
00:05:24,360 --> 00:05:27,120
share it, really.
We're both in it from day one.

116
00:05:27,120 --> 00:05:29,480
So, as you know, hate being my
husband.

117
00:05:29,800 --> 00:05:32,760
And I told you, hey, now that
we're married, I need some girl

118
00:05:32,760 --> 00:05:34,600
time.
I need a way to get together

119
00:05:34,600 --> 00:05:37,720
with the girls at least once a
month and just have some fun.

120
00:05:37,720 --> 00:05:40,360
And so I had a friend in
Columbia that started a book

121
00:05:40,360 --> 00:05:43,960
club, and that was going so well
that I thought, you know what?

122
00:05:44,080 --> 00:05:45,920
Why don't I just do that right
here in Greenville?

123
00:05:46,040 --> 00:05:49,840
So I put together a book club in
January of 2024.

124
00:05:50,480 --> 00:05:53,800
Sarah was one of the first
members of my Boat Club and it

125
00:05:53,800 --> 00:05:57,840
started really small, maybe 10
or 15 of us, and then eventually

126
00:05:57,840 --> 00:05:59,760
it grew.
I don't remember ever being

127
00:05:59,760 --> 00:06:02,120
small.
Small.

128
00:06:02,160 --> 00:06:05,200
Compared to ladies from now,
I'll tell you that 7:15 in the

129
00:06:05,200 --> 00:06:07,600
house is pretty big, right?
We live in a townhouse, so it's

130
00:06:07,600 --> 00:06:10,200
tight.
But all that to say, it grew

131
00:06:10,200 --> 00:06:11,880
over the couple months that we
had it.

132
00:06:11,880 --> 00:06:13,920
Maybe we got up to like 3035
girls.

133
00:06:14,160 --> 00:06:16,240
We read a different book every
month.

134
00:06:16,240 --> 00:06:19,080
And my brother-in-law, your
brother Luke, likes to joke

135
00:06:19,080 --> 00:06:21,520
around and say, I don't think
any books were being read.

136
00:06:21,800 --> 00:06:24,800
And yeah, there was a lot of
wine and wet clothes, and we

137
00:06:24,800 --> 00:06:25,880
just enjoyed it.
Yeah.

138
00:06:26,440 --> 00:06:30,320
But Long story short, that
spring of 2024, a couple girls

139
00:06:30,320 --> 00:06:33,080
in the club said, hey, why don't
we do a pickleball night?

140
00:06:33,320 --> 00:06:35,840
Or why don't we do a one night
at a local winery?

141
00:06:35,840 --> 00:06:37,520
Or why don't we go do this, not
in the other.

142
00:06:37,520 --> 00:06:40,440
And I thought, you know what?
It really sounds like these

143
00:06:40,440 --> 00:06:43,320
girls like books, but not enough
to do this every single month.

144
00:06:43,440 --> 00:06:46,400
It sounds like we need to do
some other things, some social

145
00:06:46,400 --> 00:06:49,440
activities.
And so with that being said, we

146
00:06:49,440 --> 00:06:53,160
did a pickle all night and that
spring and I think that was our

147
00:06:53,160 --> 00:06:55,920
highest attendance of book club.
So of course, take out the book

148
00:06:55,920 --> 00:06:58,360
and more people come.
So that was funny.

149
00:06:58,360 --> 00:07:01,000
And so at that point I knew
social clubs the way to go.

150
00:07:01,000 --> 00:07:03,920
So we took a break for that
summer and in the fall I

151
00:07:03,920 --> 00:07:06,360
officially launched the
Greenville Ladies Club as a

152
00:07:06,440 --> 00:07:11,760
social club meeting monthly for
works, no books, maybe maybe one

153
00:07:11,760 --> 00:07:15,120
month, but not every month, but
purely social really to just get

154
00:07:15,120 --> 00:07:17,120
girls together.
So again, I would say that

155
00:07:17,120 --> 00:07:19,760
started small.
I had to figure out the best way

156
00:07:19,760 --> 00:07:22,560
to communicate the events and I
thought, well, group messages

157
00:07:22,560 --> 00:07:24,240
Max out at 30 people or
whatever.

158
00:07:24,480 --> 00:07:28,240
So maybe we'll do Instagram.
Created an Instagram and I think

159
00:07:28,240 --> 00:07:31,040
the day after I created it,
Sarah right here read shot said

160
00:07:31,040 --> 00:07:33,120
do you need help?
I said absolutely.

161
00:07:33,120 --> 00:07:35,400
I had done like 2 graphics and
they were terrible.

162
00:07:35,440 --> 00:07:38,240
They were not terrible.
Not at home, so I had to say she

163
00:07:38,240 --> 00:07:41,080
jumped in at the perfect time.
So that's really how we launched

164
00:07:41,080 --> 00:07:44,080
the Greenville Ladies Club.
It went from book club to social

165
00:07:44,080 --> 00:07:45,720
club.
And Sarah's been with me from

166
00:07:45,720 --> 00:07:48,440
the very start.
And it wouldn't be what it is

167
00:07:48,440 --> 00:07:51,160
today without the social media.
And Sarah really drives that.

168
00:07:51,160 --> 00:07:54,160
We'll talk about that some more.
But between her and the small

169
00:07:54,160 --> 00:07:56,360
business connections in
Greenville, it's turned into an

170
00:07:56,360 --> 00:08:00,000
incredible opportunity.
So Sarah, you came in primarily

171
00:08:00,000 --> 00:08:01,400
for doing like social media
content.

172
00:08:01,400 --> 00:08:03,760
That was like your first role.
How did you learn, like the

173
00:08:03,760 --> 00:08:05,800
graphic design?
Like, where'd you get that knack

174
00:08:05,800 --> 00:08:09,480
for it?
I think Canva is such a powerful

175
00:08:09,640 --> 00:08:13,080
tool like you can look like an
expert with just.

176
00:08:13,520 --> 00:08:16,040
But so I've used Canva and it's
still difficult.

177
00:08:16,040 --> 00:08:20,440
Like she's got it.
It's a natural.

178
00:08:20,480 --> 00:08:23,120
Well, thank you.
Yeah, I mean, I think it's just

179
00:08:23,120 --> 00:08:25,440
trial and error and just messing
around.

180
00:08:25,440 --> 00:08:28,000
And yeah, I love to play around
on it and like, looking at

181
00:08:28,000 --> 00:08:31,200
different fonts and, you know,
I'm still learning as I go.

182
00:08:31,200 --> 00:08:35,520
So saying I'm an expert is so
funny because I don't see myself

183
00:08:35,520 --> 00:08:37,760
as fun.
But thank you.

184
00:08:37,760 --> 00:08:39,400
Yeah.
So it's funny because usually if

185
00:08:39,400 --> 00:08:42,600
you have a math mind, I have a
math mind, you don't really have

186
00:08:42,600 --> 00:08:44,880
a creative mind, but you kind of
have both.

187
00:08:45,000 --> 00:08:49,040
Yeah, obviously a creative mind
as well.

188
00:08:49,040 --> 00:08:49,680
So that's pretty.
Cool.

189
00:08:49,680 --> 00:08:54,440
I mean, it has been fun out my
creativity through the Green

190
00:08:54,440 --> 00:08:57,400
Ladies Club, so it's.
She's done a great job.

191
00:08:57,520 --> 00:08:59,280
Yeah, good for you.
That's something like I've, like

192
00:08:59,280 --> 00:09:01,520
I said, I've used Canva, I've
tried to be creative.

193
00:09:01,640 --> 00:09:03,640
It's definitely not my thing.
Same, same.

194
00:09:03,640 --> 00:09:08,280
But so yeah, I guess whenever
you started the club, I guess

195
00:09:08,560 --> 00:09:11,280
what were the first kind of
thoughts with it, The first kind

196
00:09:11,280 --> 00:09:14,080
of plans you can say like you
have a you have a target

197
00:09:14,080 --> 00:09:16,080
audience with it.
Did you have like a long term

198
00:09:16,080 --> 00:09:18,280
plan?
Yeah, great question.

199
00:09:19,200 --> 00:09:22,200
When we launched it, there was
no plan other than let's make

200
00:09:22,200 --> 00:09:24,520
friends and have fun.
And guess what, that's still our

201
00:09:24,520 --> 00:09:26,600
mission today and we're ten
months into the club.

202
00:09:27,000 --> 00:09:30,040
And so I do love that the
genuine approach to bring women

203
00:09:30,040 --> 00:09:33,120
together just to again, make
friends and have fun is what it

204
00:09:33,120 --> 00:09:35,920
is today.
So at the beginning of the club,

205
00:09:36,000 --> 00:09:38,240
I will say there really wasn't a
plan.

206
00:09:38,920 --> 00:09:41,720
So we had to leverage our
connections.

207
00:09:41,960 --> 00:09:45,000
So I have, again, I've been here
my whole life, lots of friends,

208
00:09:45,000 --> 00:09:47,840
family friends that have small
businesses here in Greenville.

209
00:09:48,080 --> 00:09:51,160
So our very first 1st event was
at Curion with Vicki Zambrano.

210
00:09:51,160 --> 00:09:52,880
Her sister Tori is one of my
great friends.

211
00:09:53,160 --> 00:09:56,160
That's a local connection that
helped us put together our very

212
00:09:56,160 --> 00:09:58,920
first event.
Our second event was a Pilate

213
00:09:58,960 --> 00:10:00,960
studio.
My friend Noella Torbay said,

214
00:10:00,960 --> 00:10:03,920
hey, I'll bring you in, I'll
host you, let me help.

215
00:10:04,120 --> 00:10:07,800
So really those first couple of
months, we have the leverage,

216
00:10:07,800 --> 00:10:10,400
the people we know to make these
events happen.

217
00:10:10,720 --> 00:10:12,800
Now we're at a completely
different point where small

218
00:10:12,800 --> 00:10:15,200
businesses are reaching out to
us left and right and it feels

219
00:10:15,200 --> 00:10:17,600
like we don't have capacity to
even read through it all, but we

220
00:10:17,600 --> 00:10:20,480
are.
But to answer your question, the

221
00:10:20,480 --> 00:10:21,800
beginning, there really wasn't a
plan.

222
00:10:21,800 --> 00:10:24,080
It was just the genuine wanting
to bring ladies together.

223
00:10:24,400 --> 00:10:27,560
And the way to do that was, one,
local connections and two,

224
00:10:27,560 --> 00:10:29,560
social media.
I don't know if you have

225
00:10:29,560 --> 00:10:31,440
anything to add.
Yeah, I mean, I know we're

226
00:10:31,440 --> 00:10:34,200
getting to it, but yeah, social
media is such a powerful tool

227
00:10:34,200 --> 00:10:36,720
and it just brings like the
community together and we have

228
00:10:37,400 --> 00:10:41,120
able to partnership with so many
like small businesses because.

229
00:10:41,560 --> 00:10:43,800
Yeah.
The Yeah, the social media.

230
00:10:44,080 --> 00:10:48,720
So where did that passion come
from for bringing people

231
00:10:48,720 --> 00:10:53,160
together and is that like the
sole like focus of the club?

232
00:10:53,160 --> 00:10:55,440
I mean, there's not really a
financial incentive with it.

233
00:10:55,440 --> 00:10:57,200
Like we've had to pay a lot of
out of pocket for it.

234
00:10:57,200 --> 00:11:00,120
Like where does that come from
to want to draw people together?

235
00:11:00,520 --> 00:11:03,720
Yeah, I mean, for me, like I
love to host people.

236
00:11:03,720 --> 00:11:06,760
Like at my house, I love to host
friends and family.

237
00:11:06,760 --> 00:11:10,400
And like, I think it was funny
because I would host things and

238
00:11:10,400 --> 00:11:12,720
invite Christina to like theme
parties and stuff.

239
00:11:12,720 --> 00:11:14,360
Like it's not just a casual
hangout for me.

240
00:11:14,360 --> 00:11:16,480
I'm like creating the Canva
environment.

241
00:11:16,720 --> 00:11:19,480
And we're.
Doing like a fun like like

242
00:11:19,480 --> 00:11:23,680
painting on wine glasses or
creating charm necklaces and so.

243
00:11:23,720 --> 00:11:26,040
There's a bit, yeah.
Like they were like fun many

244
00:11:26,040 --> 00:11:27,960
events because I'm just extra.
I love it.

245
00:11:28,480 --> 00:11:31,040
I love it.
Christina was doing the same

246
00:11:31,040 --> 00:11:32,960
thing.
And so I'm like, I think we're

247
00:11:32,960 --> 00:11:36,480
very, very similar in that
aspect that like we just love

248
00:11:36,640 --> 00:11:39,600
bringing our friends and family
together and just have fun and

249
00:11:39,600 --> 00:11:40,640
create memories.
Yeah.

250
00:11:41,000 --> 00:11:42,160
So.
Absolutely.

251
00:11:42,160 --> 00:11:44,480
I'm with her on that.
And as you know, Heath, even

252
00:11:44,480 --> 00:11:47,200
before we were dating, I would
throw these parties.

253
00:11:47,200 --> 00:11:49,280
It didn't matter what month it
was, right?

254
00:11:49,440 --> 00:11:52,120
There was a theme.
I would find a theme even if

255
00:11:52,120 --> 00:11:54,560
there wasn't one.
September, we're celebrating

256
00:11:54,560 --> 00:11:57,680
September, that's all.
So we made it happen no matter

257
00:11:57,680 --> 00:12:00,600
what.
But with that being said, I, as

258
00:12:00,600 --> 00:12:02,920
Sarah, I mentioned, we both
share the passion of bringing

259
00:12:02,920 --> 00:12:05,360
people together and hosting.
We both love that.

260
00:12:05,680 --> 00:12:08,760
And I think that one thing for
me that's always been in the

261
00:12:08,760 --> 00:12:10,640
picture is I love connecting
people.

262
00:12:10,880 --> 00:12:12,920
So I find that you have a common
interest.

263
00:12:12,920 --> 00:12:15,080
I'm going to find a way to
connect y'all and hopefully

264
00:12:15,080 --> 00:12:16,280
y'all can make a friendship out
of it.

265
00:12:16,280 --> 00:12:18,520
And if I'm not involved in that
friendship, that's totally fine.

266
00:12:18,520 --> 00:12:20,560
I'm just happy that we all were
able to connect on a common

267
00:12:20,560 --> 00:12:22,240
interest.
So that's been fun for me.

268
00:12:22,240 --> 00:12:26,080
And I will say in launching this
club, Sarah and I didn't

269
00:12:26,080 --> 00:12:29,120
necessarily have a certain
target audience or certain women

270
00:12:29,120 --> 00:12:31,640
that we were going after.
We really want to leave it open

271
00:12:31,640 --> 00:12:33,280
to women in the Greenville
community.

272
00:12:33,280 --> 00:12:35,960
I will say now it seems that the
age group is maybe somewhere

273
00:12:35,960 --> 00:12:39,600
between 25 and 45 for the
majority, but we have people

274
00:12:39,600 --> 00:12:41,200
younger than that and older than
that.

275
00:12:41,200 --> 00:12:45,320
So from the day one till now,
we're just open to women in

276
00:12:45,320 --> 00:12:47,200
Greenville who want to have fun
and make friends.

277
00:12:47,200 --> 00:12:48,760
I will hammer that home.
Yeah.

278
00:12:49,480 --> 00:12:53,360
So I like how it's obvious been
not even a year yet, 10 months.

279
00:12:54,040 --> 00:12:57,360
And it started with, like you
said, just a 10/15 girls and in

280
00:12:57,360 --> 00:13:00,960
a book club.
And then now you have 2000.

281
00:13:01,000 --> 00:13:04,160
We got.
Yeah, a little bit over $2500.

282
00:13:04,200 --> 00:13:06,960
Yes.
So was that ever like the goal

283
00:13:06,960 --> 00:13:08,960
at the beginning?
Was that ever an expectation

284
00:13:08,960 --> 00:13:12,080
that it would grow to that or
was it kind of just a surprise?

285
00:13:12,080 --> 00:13:15,080
Yeah, well, great question.
Again, we started with no goals.

286
00:13:15,080 --> 00:13:19,760
So the fact that we got to 2500
so quickly is a blessing.

287
00:13:19,760 --> 00:13:23,160
I mean, for me to be able to
pour into ladies and help create

288
00:13:23,160 --> 00:13:26,240
community, I'm so blessed and
thankful that God's given me

289
00:13:26,240 --> 00:13:29,000
this opportunity and Sarah, that
we can do this together.

290
00:13:29,000 --> 00:13:32,680
So I did not expect all this
quickly, but like I said, I

291
00:13:32,680 --> 00:13:35,080
thank God for every day and it
would not happen without her

292
00:13:35,080 --> 00:13:36,200
help.
So I don't know if you have

293
00:13:36,200 --> 00:13:38,280
anything to add.
It probably surprised you too,

294
00:13:38,280 --> 00:13:40,760
if I had to guess.
Yeah, no, it's, it's crazy.

295
00:13:40,760 --> 00:13:44,960
And I love meeting new people,
like every single event we have.

296
00:13:44,960 --> 00:13:46,920
And so it's just been a fun
journey.

297
00:13:47,760 --> 00:13:50,400
OK, so Speaking of the events,
yeah, what have been some of

298
00:13:50,400 --> 00:13:55,600
y'all's favorite events so far?
Oh gosh, my favorite event.

299
00:13:56,000 --> 00:13:59,640
That's so hard because every
event is very different.

300
00:13:59,640 --> 00:14:05,160
So we don't try it like to keep
it on one theme or one target

301
00:14:05,400 --> 00:14:08,720
audience.
So there's a variety of

302
00:14:08,720 --> 00:14:11,960
different events we have.
I think my favorite one was the

303
00:14:11,960 --> 00:14:17,520
Cookie Exchange last year.
Last December we had, I think,

304
00:14:18,000 --> 00:14:20,720
how many girls?
Yeah, it was probably 70 girls

305
00:14:20,720 --> 00:14:23,600
squeezed into the Cane Building
basement.

306
00:14:23,920 --> 00:14:24,920
Yeah, it was.
Great.

307
00:14:24,960 --> 00:14:28,320
And they brought two dozen
cookies and we just did an

308
00:14:28,320 --> 00:14:32,040
exchange with each other,
everyone.

309
00:14:32,040 --> 00:14:34,480
Brought two dozen cookies every.
We ate too much time.

310
00:14:35,680 --> 00:14:37,440
Yes, and there's a ton of
leftovers.

311
00:14:37,480 --> 00:14:39,000
People that want to bring back
their cookies.

312
00:14:39,280 --> 00:14:41,080
I think I brought here the full
bag of cookies.

313
00:14:41,080 --> 00:14:43,040
Yeah, yeah, there's that many
cookies.

314
00:14:45,200 --> 00:14:48,160
And then I feel like every
single event when we partner

315
00:14:48,160 --> 00:14:52,040
with these small businesses to
promote their business, I think

316
00:14:52,040 --> 00:14:55,760
it's really cool just to meet
those people and know their

317
00:14:55,760 --> 00:14:58,520
stories.
So it was so cool.

318
00:14:58,520 --> 00:15:01,440
I mean, to bring in these
businesses.

319
00:15:01,800 --> 00:15:04,320
I mean, what, which one?
I can't even pick a favorite.

320
00:15:04,320 --> 00:15:08,800
I know I can't pick a favorite.
I do really appreciate the small

321
00:15:08,800 --> 00:15:12,480
businesses that poured into us
and partnered with us month 1-2

322
00:15:12,480 --> 00:15:15,280
and three, right?
Like we had no followers back

323
00:15:15,280 --> 00:15:17,400
then.
Maybe 30-40, fifty.

324
00:15:17,400 --> 00:15:19,440
I think at one point it was
hitting 75 and I thought that

325
00:15:19,440 --> 00:15:22,280
was huge.
So I can't thank those

326
00:15:22,280 --> 00:15:25,120
businesses enough for partnering
us when we were nobody.

327
00:15:25,120 --> 00:15:27,640
We were small and they took us
and gave us a hand up and said,

328
00:15:27,640 --> 00:15:31,440
hey, let us help you with this.
So those are favorites because

329
00:15:31,440 --> 00:15:33,600
of the genuine approach to help
the Ladies Club.

330
00:15:34,200 --> 00:15:37,560
But in terms of attendance, I
will say our Pickle Park event

331
00:15:37,560 --> 00:15:41,720
in March had 110 women, so that
was huge.

332
00:15:42,560 --> 00:15:44,320
Sarah and I were running around
like crazy.

333
00:15:44,880 --> 00:15:46,880
You know, we try to be so
genuine with our events.

334
00:15:46,880 --> 00:15:49,000
We want to meet every single
woman who's there.

335
00:15:49,200 --> 00:15:51,440
You get a name tag, and part of
that is 1.

336
00:15:51,440 --> 00:15:54,160
You want to meet people, so you
need a name tag, but 2.

337
00:15:54,160 --> 00:15:57,280
Sarah and I want the opportunity
to say hello to every single

338
00:15:57,280 --> 00:15:58,480
guest.
We don't want to miss one

339
00:15:58,480 --> 00:16:00,600
person.
So that event was a lot of fun

340
00:16:00,600 --> 00:16:02,960
because to say hello to 110
people when there's two of us,

341
00:16:03,360 --> 00:16:05,480
we are busy.
OK, so that was a really good.

342
00:16:05,480 --> 00:16:07,440
Can't imagine names remembering
all the names.

343
00:16:07,920 --> 00:16:11,640
Yeah, that name tags are key
tags.

344
00:16:11,800 --> 00:16:13,160
We make it easy.
Yeah.

345
00:16:13,600 --> 00:16:16,080
So I had to say, it is really
hard to pinpoint a favorite, but

346
00:16:16,080 --> 00:16:18,800
I just truly appreciate each
business that's poured into us,

347
00:16:18,800 --> 00:16:20,920
especially when we were nobody
and so small.

348
00:16:20,920 --> 00:16:22,920
And now that we've gotten
bigger, it's cool to see the new

349
00:16:22,920 --> 00:16:24,080
opportunities.
Cool.

350
00:16:24,400 --> 00:16:25,560
Yeah.
I guess what can you say it

351
00:16:25,560 --> 00:16:28,200
would be the most difficult
event that you've planned so

352
00:16:28,200 --> 00:16:30,080
far?
Yeah, a good question.

353
00:16:30,520 --> 00:16:33,880
I think when we talk about
difficulty or challenges, we can

354
00:16:33,880 --> 00:16:38,280
start with time commitment.
Sarah and I, as you mentioned

355
00:16:38,280 --> 00:16:40,320
earlier, both work full time
jobs.

356
00:16:40,360 --> 00:16:43,400
We're both marrying, we both
have husbands, we have families.

357
00:16:43,400 --> 00:16:44,520
We have.
Shut up Colton.

358
00:16:44,640 --> 00:16:48,160
I mean, yeah, right, Coco.
Exactly, exactly.

359
00:16:48,440 --> 00:16:51,520
So with that being said, the
biggest challenge for us has

360
00:16:51,520 --> 00:16:55,120
really been the time commitment.
What we thought was just putting

361
00:16:55,120 --> 00:16:57,680
a little event together with a
little social media test each

362
00:16:57,680 --> 00:17:01,120
month has turned into a full
time second job.

363
00:17:01,160 --> 00:17:04,319
You know, so when we're not at
our job, 8:00 to 5/8 to 6,

364
00:17:04,319 --> 00:17:07,520
whatever those hours are, our
evenings are spent planning

365
00:17:07,520 --> 00:17:09,560
events, collaborating with
businesses, getting on phone

366
00:17:09,560 --> 00:17:11,079
calls and you know it more than
anyone.

367
00:17:11,079 --> 00:17:14,440
I mean, it's a non-stop business
and you are like a little

368
00:17:14,960 --> 00:17:18,599
Energizer Bunny.
It's fun, it's rewarding, but I

369
00:17:18,599 --> 00:17:20,960
would say the biggest challenge
for us is certainly a time

370
00:17:20,960 --> 00:17:22,920
commitment in terms of a
specific event.

371
00:17:23,160 --> 00:17:25,240
I think each one kind of brings
its own challenges.

372
00:17:25,520 --> 00:17:29,120
I wouldn't pinpoint one thing in
particular, but overall it's

373
00:17:29,120 --> 00:17:30,640
just the time commitment has
been tough.

374
00:17:31,280 --> 00:17:33,800
No, I agree.
All that to say is time

375
00:17:33,800 --> 00:17:35,240
commitment has been the most
difficult thing.

376
00:17:35,240 --> 00:17:38,000
Yeah, that's fair.
So then what would you say

377
00:17:38,160 --> 00:17:40,480
y'all's goals are today?
I mean, you started out with

378
00:17:40,480 --> 00:17:42,840
zero goals.
Yeah.

379
00:17:43,960 --> 00:17:46,400
I'll let you share about our
mission that isn't changing, at

380
00:17:46,400 --> 00:17:49,000
least for now.
Make friends and have fun, yeah?

381
00:17:49,680 --> 00:17:50,920
That's the motto of the
Greenville, yeah.

382
00:17:51,040 --> 00:17:54,520
Yeah, so it's funny because
Christina, I mean, she said that

383
00:17:54,520 --> 00:17:58,600
like, I guess just as a pitch,
like when we were just

384
00:17:58,600 --> 00:18:01,040
introducing the club, our very
first event, like we're just

385
00:18:01,040 --> 00:18:03,800
here to make friends and have
fun and like there are no goals.

386
00:18:04,160 --> 00:18:06,080
And it was really like funny and
cute.

387
00:18:06,080 --> 00:18:08,920
But now, like we say it, every
single event.

388
00:18:09,000 --> 00:18:11,760
It's our mission.
And it is now the mission.

389
00:18:11,760 --> 00:18:12,520
Yeah.
And we're.

390
00:18:12,720 --> 00:18:14,760
We're.
Yeah, it's fun, but it's also

391
00:18:14,760 --> 00:18:16,760
serious.
Like the point is to meet

392
00:18:16,760 --> 00:18:19,720
people, get connected and you
know.

393
00:18:20,680 --> 00:18:22,280
Yeah, friends behind that
mission.

394
00:18:22,360 --> 00:18:24,920
Yeah, I think it's good.
And to answer your question, you

395
00:18:24,920 --> 00:18:27,400
know, what are our goals today?
Like Sarah said, keep that same

396
00:18:27,400 --> 00:18:31,920
mission, keep making friends and
having fun for us, You know, we

397
00:18:31,920 --> 00:18:34,520
both have careers outside Ladies
Club, so these small business

398
00:18:34,520 --> 00:18:37,760
connections are really cool.
And this podcast right here,

399
00:18:37,760 --> 00:18:39,800
Carolina business leaders with
my husband.

400
00:18:39,800 --> 00:18:42,320
Hopefully some businesses we
connect with could be on the

401
00:18:42,320 --> 00:18:44,080
podcast.
So there's a lot of fun ways to

402
00:18:44,080 --> 00:18:45,880
collapse.
There's a realtor, so maybe we

403
00:18:45,880 --> 00:18:50,040
have some clients come together.
So I'll say I think continuing

404
00:18:50,040 --> 00:18:53,240
to grow all the business
connections is huge for everyone

405
00:18:53,240 --> 00:18:56,920
involved.
But then to, you know, goals is

406
00:18:56,920 --> 00:18:58,640
an interesting thing.
Like, yes, you need to have

407
00:18:58,640 --> 00:18:59,800
goals.
That's super important.

408
00:19:00,360 --> 00:19:03,520
But there's something I heard
within the last year that really

409
00:19:03,520 --> 00:19:06,800
stuck with me, not only for
ladies club, but for my business

410
00:19:06,800 --> 00:19:09,400
as well.
And, and even I've talked to

411
00:19:09,400 --> 00:19:13,560
Heath about this for the podcast
is don't say much focus on on

412
00:19:13,560 --> 00:19:17,000
the goals and what you want to
hit in the future, but focus on

413
00:19:17,000 --> 00:19:19,360
the right now.
So what are the things that you

414
00:19:19,360 --> 00:19:21,840
need to be doing right now so
that you can grow and so that

415
00:19:21,840 --> 00:19:23,720
you can be successful and so you
can build.

416
00:19:23,960 --> 00:19:26,920
So I think that we have done a
great job focusing on the right

417
00:19:26,920 --> 00:19:30,240
now and that's what's been able
to help us succeed and grow as a

418
00:19:30,240 --> 00:19:32,760
club.
Well, I can probably vouch.

419
00:19:32,840 --> 00:19:33,920
I can say that's pretty
accurate.

420
00:19:34,200 --> 00:19:36,760
Yeah.
So I guess how often are y'all

421
00:19:36,760 --> 00:19:39,600
partnering with businesses and
how many businesses?

422
00:19:39,600 --> 00:19:41,680
How do you find people to
partner with?

423
00:19:42,280 --> 00:19:43,360
Can you speak into that a
little?

424
00:19:43,560 --> 00:19:47,040
But yeah, business partnerships
are part of the core of our and

425
00:19:47,280 --> 00:19:49,960
why like why?
Yeah, Yeah, great question.

426
00:19:50,240 --> 00:19:53,680
And so Sarah and I, again have
been in Greenville our whole

427
00:19:53,680 --> 00:19:55,880
life.
And so we really value the

428
00:19:55,880 --> 00:19:57,960
growth of Gringo and that
wouldn't happen without a lot of

429
00:19:57,960 --> 00:20:00,480
the businesses have come in.
But then two, there's small

430
00:20:00,480 --> 00:20:02,640
businesses, I've been here
forever that are successful.

431
00:20:02,920 --> 00:20:07,360
So for us, we want to make sure
that our 2500 members right now

432
00:20:07,680 --> 00:20:10,760
are hearing about and knowing
these small businesses in

433
00:20:10,760 --> 00:20:12,960
Gringo.
We want to give them exposure.

434
00:20:13,440 --> 00:20:16,040
And each and every event we
partner with somewhere between

435
00:20:16,040 --> 00:20:19,240
4:00 to 6:00 businesses, Some
events we even partner with 10

436
00:20:19,240 --> 00:20:22,040
local businesses.
And the goal for them every

437
00:20:22,040 --> 00:20:25,520
event is to get exposure.
So we do a nice welcome at the

438
00:20:25,520 --> 00:20:28,520
beginning of the event and then
we have each business owner go

439
00:20:28,520 --> 00:20:31,320
through and share what their
business is about, what they're

440
00:20:31,320 --> 00:20:33,200
looking to sell and who their
audience is.

441
00:20:33,360 --> 00:20:36,040
So why we partner with
businesses is we want to help

442
00:20:36,040 --> 00:20:37,640
them.
We want to help them profit and

443
00:20:37,640 --> 00:20:40,600
revenue, get higher revenue.
And if we can help them with

444
00:20:40,600 --> 00:20:43,000
that, with their 2500 members,
then we're going to do it.

445
00:20:43,440 --> 00:20:44,200
I like it.
Yeah.

446
00:20:45,240 --> 00:20:46,760
I don't know if you have
anything to add to that.

447
00:20:46,760 --> 00:20:48,280
We part, I mean, we partner with
them a lot.

448
00:20:48,560 --> 00:20:50,000
Yeah.
It's just an everyday thing.

449
00:20:50,280 --> 00:20:53,480
And you also partner with like,
nonprofits and like other

450
00:20:53,480 --> 00:20:55,160
organizations, right?
Yes, yes.

451
00:20:55,600 --> 00:20:57,320
You want to share a couple that
we've partnered with?

452
00:20:57,440 --> 00:20:59,800
Yes.
So during Christmas time, we

453
00:20:59,800 --> 00:21:04,280
partnered with Pendleton Place
and we got gifts for them so

454
00:21:04,280 --> 00:21:07,040
they can enjoy a little
something extra.

455
00:21:07,040 --> 00:21:11,160
Yeah, on Christmas Day at the
pickleball event, we partnered

456
00:21:11,280 --> 00:21:16,080
with Girls Up and they would
just ask looking for donations.

457
00:21:16,080 --> 00:21:17,920
Yeah, donations.
School and snacks.

458
00:21:17,920 --> 00:21:23,360
Yeah, snacks.
And then in October, we did the

459
00:21:23,360 --> 00:21:28,040
American Cancer Society as a
YEAH, and we raised 250.

460
00:21:28,040 --> 00:21:30,400
Dollars for breast cancer for
awareness breast.

461
00:21:30,480 --> 00:21:33,400
Cancer.
Yeah, how do y'all decide which

462
00:21:33,400 --> 00:21:36,160
organizations to partner with?
Yeah, great question.

463
00:21:36,160 --> 00:21:39,000
So Pendleton Place goes right
back to local connections.

464
00:21:39,160 --> 00:21:41,160
So again, been here our whole
lives.

465
00:21:41,840 --> 00:21:46,000
Michelle Shane currently runs
The Pendleton Place, which her

466
00:21:46,000 --> 00:21:48,520
husband Mike Shane has actually
been on this podcast before.

467
00:21:49,400 --> 00:21:52,360
I used to work with him.
He's retired now, but Michelle

468
00:21:52,360 --> 00:21:57,280
is incredibly involved in the
community and I knew that when

469
00:21:57,280 --> 00:22:00,640
we wanted to partner with
someone for Christmas, our

470
00:22:00,640 --> 00:22:02,320
organization would probably be a
good fit.

471
00:22:02,320 --> 00:22:05,440
So that was a connection girls
up Greenville a good friend of

472
00:22:05,440 --> 00:22:08,400
ours, Brie Berry had reached out
and said, hey, I know that y'all

473
00:22:08,400 --> 00:22:10,440
partnering people.
We'd love for you to look at our

474
00:22:10,440 --> 00:22:12,440
organization.
So again, local connection

475
00:22:12,880 --> 00:22:15,400
breast cancer awareness that
actually rated from my college

476
00:22:15,400 --> 00:22:17,160
days.
I was a Zeta at Clemson.

477
00:22:17,160 --> 00:22:20,720
That was my sorority and our
philanthropic partner was the

478
00:22:20,720 --> 00:22:22,360
breast cancer awareness and
research.

479
00:22:22,560 --> 00:22:24,360
So that's always been near and
near in my heart.

480
00:22:24,360 --> 00:22:27,040
I have family members, I've had
breast cancer, lots of friends.

481
00:22:27,720 --> 00:22:31,200
So every October that comes by,
I personally, they love to find

482
00:22:31,200 --> 00:22:33,960
something to do with that just
because A, I've been doing it

483
00:22:33,960 --> 00:22:37,280
and B, it's a great 'cause.
So looking forward, I'll say

484
00:22:37,280 --> 00:22:40,840
both of us really would like to
find some more opportunities to

485
00:22:40,840 --> 00:22:42,760
connect with local
organizations.

486
00:22:43,320 --> 00:22:45,200
And I say local because
Greenville is home.

487
00:22:45,200 --> 00:22:49,680
So the more if anyone hears this
and has a 5O1C3 that would love

488
00:22:49,680 --> 00:22:51,880
to partner with us, we're open
to it.

489
00:22:52,440 --> 00:22:54,040
We're actually talking to
someone today.

490
00:22:54,600 --> 00:22:58,040
We have a text conversation,
very small organization here.

491
00:22:58,040 --> 00:23:01,560
Someone started.
It's a girl, she lost her baby,

492
00:23:01,560 --> 00:23:04,320
so it's kind of around that,
which is near and dear to our

493
00:23:04,320 --> 00:23:06,280
hearts.
But we're looking at partnering

494
00:23:06,280 --> 00:23:09,120
with her for an upcoming big
event that we'll talk about here

495
00:23:09,120 --> 00:23:11,280
soon.
So always on the lookout for it

496
00:23:11,280 --> 00:23:13,320
and it means a lot.
To us, yeah, always on the

497
00:23:13,320 --> 00:23:19,480
lookout and you can just DM us
on Instagram or e-mail, so yeah.

498
00:23:19,760 --> 00:23:21,080
Yeah, we're open to it.
Yeah.

499
00:23:21,720 --> 00:23:23,920
Nice.
Yeah, We try not to turn.

500
00:23:24,080 --> 00:23:27,040
Well, we don't turn, turn away
anyone.

501
00:23:27,120 --> 00:23:29,440
And we will always love to help
out any way we can.

502
00:23:29,560 --> 00:23:31,760
Absolutely.
I'm trying to, I'm trying to

503
00:23:31,760 --> 00:23:33,160
figure out how I want to word
this question.

504
00:23:33,440 --> 00:23:37,520
It's not like a story as in like
I don't want any names, but what

505
00:23:37,520 --> 00:23:39,800
would be your favorite story
that's come out of the ladies

506
00:23:39,800 --> 00:23:41,800
club?
Or if you want to answer it this

507
00:23:41,800 --> 00:23:45,680
way, someone should come to the
Ladies Club so that like, what

508
00:23:45,680 --> 00:23:48,520
is your hope for girls?
When women show up at the Ladies

509
00:23:48,520 --> 00:23:50,040
Club, what is your hope for
them?

510
00:23:50,160 --> 00:23:52,840
Yeah, that's great.
And I know that you have a lot

511
00:23:52,840 --> 00:23:55,520
to add to this.
But I'll just say our hope now

512
00:23:55,520 --> 00:23:57,000
is the same hope as the
beginning.

513
00:23:57,000 --> 00:24:00,000
We want these women to feel that
they have a community.

514
00:24:00,240 --> 00:24:03,160
Greenville is a special place.
There's very few of us that are

515
00:24:03,600 --> 00:24:06,280
have been here a whole lot.
There's not many of us left, but

516
00:24:06,280 --> 00:24:09,080
there's lots of new people.
So we want to make sure that

517
00:24:09,080 --> 00:24:11,560
those new people feel that they
have some kind of community.

518
00:24:11,880 --> 00:24:15,640
And again, to not name names,
I've just seen some real special

519
00:24:15,640 --> 00:24:17,960
things happen.
For instance, and you'll know

520
00:24:17,960 --> 00:24:20,520
exactly what I'm talking about,
there's a group of girls that

521
00:24:20,520 --> 00:24:23,800
came from the beginning of the
ladies club, first couple

522
00:24:23,800 --> 00:24:26,960
events, even some in book club
and, and there's now a friend

523
00:24:26,960 --> 00:24:28,560
group that was formed, which is
amazing.

524
00:24:28,680 --> 00:24:32,160
So our last event, the May
heyday event, we had this friend

525
00:24:32,160 --> 00:24:35,000
group there sitting at a table
together and Sarah and I got to

526
00:24:35,000 --> 00:24:37,720
look at them and say, wow, that
friend group formed from the

527
00:24:37,720 --> 00:24:40,560
ladies club.
And so I think providing a

528
00:24:40,560 --> 00:24:43,920
space, people come alone, right?
And we get messages and emails,

529
00:24:43,920 --> 00:24:45,880
We have an interest form and all
the time we lost.

530
00:24:46,160 --> 00:24:48,680
Can I come to events by myself?
Absolutely.

531
00:24:48,680 --> 00:24:51,240
Yeah, that's actually even
better because there's lots of

532
00:24:51,240 --> 00:24:54,560
women at events by themselves
who need friends, so we can

533
00:24:54,560 --> 00:24:56,520
create a space for friendships
to be made.

534
00:24:56,560 --> 00:25:00,160
We're going to call that one.
And I think, as you said, we're

535
00:25:00,160 --> 00:25:02,880
talking about goals.
I think that is like a goal that

536
00:25:02,880 --> 00:25:06,960
we never had, like women come
like by themselves.

537
00:25:06,960 --> 00:25:09,520
And I'm like, you are very bold
for doing that.

538
00:25:09,760 --> 00:25:12,040
And I applaud you because that
is.

539
00:25:12,400 --> 00:25:13,720
Yeah.
I mean, that's the whole point

540
00:25:13,720 --> 00:25:17,040
is to meet other girls around
the area.

541
00:25:17,080 --> 00:25:20,240
So yeah, yeah, it's really cool
to see that it have actually.

542
00:25:20,600 --> 00:25:22,880
That's cool to see the impact
that you're making and helping

543
00:25:22,880 --> 00:25:25,600
people connect, helping people
find that community here in

544
00:25:25,600 --> 00:25:26,480
Greenville.
So.

545
00:25:26,640 --> 00:25:29,400
And I think you're fair and I
too, just with thinking ahead,

546
00:25:29,400 --> 00:25:30,840
you know, we're about to go in
here too.

547
00:25:31,800 --> 00:25:34,400
I think people ask, you know,
what changes are y'all gonna

548
00:25:34,400 --> 00:25:38,520
make or what enhancements?
You know the hard thing is if it

549
00:25:38,520 --> 00:25:39,640
ain't broke, don't fix it,
right?

550
00:25:40,680 --> 00:25:42,400
Everything's working.
It's going great.

551
00:25:42,400 --> 00:25:44,080
Sure.
We think about some things like

552
00:25:44,080 --> 00:25:46,760
do we have a membership?
Is there a membership fee?

553
00:25:46,960 --> 00:25:49,400
Do we charge eggs?
Do members charge get charged

554
00:25:49,400 --> 00:25:50,320
less?
Yes.

555
00:25:50,320 --> 00:25:52,960
Those are all things we talked
about and people are bringing us

556
00:25:52,960 --> 00:25:55,360
amazing ideas so we're taking
those into account.

557
00:25:55,600 --> 00:25:57,720
But we will live by if it ain't
broke, don't fix it.

558
00:25:57,800 --> 00:25:59,720
Events are going great, so we're
going to keep it going the same

559
00:25:59,720 --> 00:26:00,720
way.
OK, cool.

560
00:26:00,960 --> 00:26:03,800
Is there any big events coming
up that you like to share about?

561
00:26:04,080 --> 00:26:08,280
Good question.
So we actually the time this

562
00:26:08,280 --> 00:26:12,120
comes out in July, the save the
date should be out there.

563
00:26:12,120 --> 00:26:17,720
So we are having a big one year
anniversary party downtown

564
00:26:17,720 --> 00:26:21,960
Greenville at the L and it's a
huge thing because the fact that

565
00:26:21,960 --> 00:26:28,200
the Ladies Club A has made it 12
months and yeah, B&B yeah, one,

566
00:26:28,240 --> 00:26:30,840
we made it 12 months, 2.
We've gone to the sides that we

567
00:26:30,840 --> 00:26:32,000
are.
I mean, that's just worth

568
00:26:32,000 --> 00:26:33,880
celebrating.
So that's going to be in

569
00:26:33,880 --> 00:26:36,360
September.
You should see, I mean, by the

570
00:26:36,360 --> 00:26:38,120
time this comes out, this save
the dates out there.

571
00:26:38,120 --> 00:26:40,760
So look out for those tickets,
buy those tickets.

572
00:26:40,760 --> 00:26:42,640
They're going to go quick.
It's going to be a great mix and

573
00:26:42,640 --> 00:26:44,760
mingle.
Lots of photo opportunities

574
00:26:44,760 --> 00:26:46,240
because we're girls and we love
pictures.

575
00:26:46,360 --> 00:26:49,160
So there's going to be all kinds
of photographers and photo

576
00:26:49,160 --> 00:26:52,040
backdrops, food, drinks, the
whole 9 yards.

577
00:26:52,240 --> 00:26:54,760
So that's a sneak peek.
And Sarah, I'll kind of let you

578
00:26:54,760 --> 00:26:57,440
out a little bit about vendors
and partnerships and some posts

579
00:26:57,440 --> 00:26:58,600
that may be out there about
that.

580
00:26:59,000 --> 00:27:01,120
Yeah.
So right now we're looking for

581
00:27:01,120 --> 00:27:07,400
sponsorships to help us plan and
execute this event, whether it's

582
00:27:07,520 --> 00:27:11,320
a monetary donation or donating
to something at the event like

583
00:27:11,440 --> 00:27:14,560
having a booth or even we're
doing little goodie bags.

584
00:27:14,560 --> 00:27:18,240
So putting something from your
small business into the bag.

585
00:27:18,600 --> 00:27:21,440
We're looking for all ideas.
And if you have another idea,

586
00:27:21,440 --> 00:27:23,520
then yeah, you can.
We're flexible, yeah.

587
00:27:24,120 --> 00:27:25,440
Where I've been to hearing it,
yes.

588
00:27:26,000 --> 00:27:29,920
What's the pitch for the events?
Like why should I'm not a lady?

589
00:27:30,120 --> 00:27:32,680
But if I was, why should I come
to the event?

590
00:27:33,320 --> 00:27:36,640
So I think when we were trying
to think of the theme and

591
00:27:36,720 --> 00:27:40,280
everything, one of the girls on
our committee was like,

592
00:27:40,280 --> 00:27:43,600
Greenwell doesn't have enough
like events to like get dressed

593
00:27:43,600 --> 00:27:45,560
up.
And girls love to get dressed up

594
00:27:45,560 --> 00:27:47,840
and take pictures and like you
were saying.

595
00:27:48,280 --> 00:27:50,840
And so we wanted something
elevated.

596
00:27:50,840 --> 00:27:55,720
Classy cocktails sparkles you.
Know.

597
00:27:56,040 --> 00:27:58,120
So 1, you get to dress to
impress.

598
00:27:58,120 --> 00:27:59,680
Yeah, that's the number one
reason because.

599
00:28:00,200 --> 00:28:03,000
But then two, it's going to be
making friends and having fun on

600
00:28:03,000 --> 00:28:03,880
a whole.
Yeah.

601
00:28:04,000 --> 00:28:06,640
So the mission is gonna be taken
to the next level with this

602
00:28:06,640 --> 00:28:09,120
event.
Lots of fun, reasonable pricing,

603
00:28:09,120 --> 00:28:10,600
and you'll get a lot of good
stuff out of it.

604
00:28:10,600 --> 00:28:12,080
So we're excited.
OK.

605
00:28:12,080 --> 00:28:14,760
And that's gonna be when?
The end of September.

606
00:28:14,760 --> 00:28:17,160
OK, so we're gonna finalize the
date here pretty soon.

607
00:28:17,160 --> 00:28:19,800
By the time this podcast comes
out, it'll be on social media.

608
00:28:19,920 --> 00:28:20,680
Gotcha.
Gotcha.

609
00:28:21,120 --> 00:28:23,400
So then if someone wants to get
involved in the latest club or

610
00:28:23,400 --> 00:28:25,360
wants to show up to this event,
it's like, how can they find

611
00:28:25,360 --> 00:28:26,640
y'all?
Great question.

612
00:28:26,640 --> 00:28:29,000
So social media, again, is a
huge part of what we do.

613
00:28:29,000 --> 00:28:33,200
But we've got a couple things.
So Instagram, which is where the

614
00:28:33,200 --> 00:28:36,640
majority of our members, you
could say your followers are,

615
00:28:37,040 --> 00:28:39,200
that's the number.
One, we do have a GroupMe.

616
00:28:39,200 --> 00:28:41,880
We recognize not everyone has
social media.

617
00:28:41,880 --> 00:28:45,520
So GroupMe has the same post as
Instagram, the same sign up

618
00:28:45,520 --> 00:28:49,160
links and everything like that.
And so you can e-mail us if you

619
00:28:49,160 --> 00:28:50,760
need that.
And then two, we are on

620
00:28:50,760 --> 00:28:53,160
LinkedIn, which is a
professional network and we're

621
00:28:53,160 --> 00:28:55,600
just getting started on that.
So again, for those that might

622
00:28:55,600 --> 00:28:58,520
not have Instagram, you have
GroupMe and LinkedIn for the

623
00:28:58,520 --> 00:29:00,840
updates.
So you will always see a save

624
00:29:00,840 --> 00:29:05,040
the date post done by Sarah and
then some pictures to follow

625
00:29:05,040 --> 00:29:07,680
leading up to the event.
Sign up links are usually

626
00:29:07,680 --> 00:29:11,440
directly in our bio and we do
have an interest form, so if

627
00:29:11,440 --> 00:29:13,280
you're new to the club, please
fill that out.

628
00:29:13,520 --> 00:29:15,680
We'd just love to know who's
getting involved with this.

629
00:29:15,680 --> 00:29:18,200
You may have some great ideas.
Sarah and I are always open to

630
00:29:18,200 --> 00:29:20,000
hearing it.
So those are really the best

631
00:29:20,000 --> 00:29:22,480
ways to get involved.
Our e-mail is

632
00:29:22,480 --> 00:29:26,120
thegreenvilleladiesclub@gmail.com.
So any questions let us know.

633
00:29:26,120 --> 00:29:28,800
But we're both always open to
emails, phone calls, whatever it

634
00:29:28,800 --> 00:29:31,040
might be Nice.
We'll close out here in a

635
00:29:31,040 --> 00:29:32,640
minute.
But I do want to get into a

636
00:29:32,640 --> 00:29:35,000
little bit more of your stories
before we do.

637
00:29:35,120 --> 00:29:38,160
You both work full time jobs.
You both do this on the side.

638
00:29:38,520 --> 00:29:41,960
What does a day in the life of
Christina, a day in the life of

639
00:29:41,960 --> 00:29:44,560
Sarah look like?
I'll let Sarah go it.

640
00:29:44,840 --> 00:29:46,480
Might be a.
Little more simple.

641
00:29:46,920 --> 00:29:51,840
Yours is, Oh yeah, yours.
So like you guys said before, I

642
00:29:51,840 --> 00:29:58,600
just got my license this year
for real estate, so every day is

643
00:29:58,600 --> 00:29:59,720
different.
Right.

644
00:30:00,240 --> 00:30:05,120
You know, I'm, I'm learning that
it is based on people and

645
00:30:05,120 --> 00:30:07,520
clients and you go by their
schedule.

646
00:30:08,240 --> 00:30:12,280
But a typical day, you know, get
to the office, check my emails,

647
00:30:13,320 --> 00:30:17,040
probably do some showings.
We have a couple listings, so

648
00:30:17,040 --> 00:30:22,280
work on those posts on social
media for the listings and just

649
00:30:22,280 --> 00:30:26,440
building a brand.
But I can't tell you what a

650
00:30:26,440 --> 00:30:28,720
single day is like.
It's also different, so.

651
00:30:28,720 --> 00:30:33,000
So different, yeah, which is
enjoyable so.

652
00:30:33,200 --> 00:30:35,760
Is there work involved with the
ladies club every day?

653
00:30:35,760 --> 00:30:37,400
Is it every week?
Like what could?

654
00:30:37,400 --> 00:30:40,000
What's kind of the?
I think Christine and I talk

655
00:30:40,000 --> 00:30:46,840
constantly, so we could say
daily, but we, I mean, yeah, we

656
00:30:46,840 --> 00:30:49,680
put in some hours.
I mean, but it's like random

657
00:30:49,680 --> 00:30:52,240
time.
So like she might have a free

658
00:30:52,240 --> 00:30:55,680
moment at 10 in the like 10. 10
in the morning.

659
00:30:56,240 --> 00:31:00,760
Or yeah, 10 AM or 10, yeah, or
10:00 or 10:00 PM and I'm over

660
00:31:00,760 --> 00:31:03,720
here texting you 3 hours later
with all my ideas.

661
00:31:03,720 --> 00:31:06,120
I'm blowing up her phone.
So it's really funny.

662
00:31:06,120 --> 00:31:08,640
But I mean, we both respect each
other's time.

663
00:31:08,640 --> 00:31:13,080
So we, we'll send all of our
ideas because it's top of mind,

664
00:31:13,080 --> 00:31:16,440
but we don't expect a response
right away.

665
00:31:16,480 --> 00:31:19,080
And we do have scheduled
meetings.

666
00:31:19,080 --> 00:31:22,040
Yeah.
So that's how I, yeah, stay on

667
00:31:22,040 --> 00:31:24,000
track with everything.
Put it in the calendar.

668
00:31:24,000 --> 00:31:25,680
That's right.
The calendar person.

669
00:31:25,760 --> 00:31:26,680
Yeah.
What about you?

670
00:31:27,720 --> 00:31:30,600
day-to-day is crazy, which if
anyone knows, it's the two of

671
00:31:30,600 --> 00:31:34,360
y'all, my husband and Sarah, who
helps with the Ladies Club.

672
00:31:34,360 --> 00:31:37,280
So every day differs.
Again, I said, I work in

673
00:31:37,400 --> 00:31:39,160
financial services and a family
business.

674
00:31:39,160 --> 00:31:42,000
So that really takes up, you
know, my age to five, age to

675
00:31:42,000 --> 00:31:44,720
six, call it.
And I might sneak away at lunch

676
00:31:44,840 --> 00:31:47,560
break to do a podcast with
Heath, my husband.

677
00:31:47,880 --> 00:31:50,040
And that's always a nice break
in the middle of the day.

678
00:31:50,040 --> 00:31:52,880
But I'd say the eight to five,
eight to six is my job.

679
00:31:53,800 --> 00:31:57,200
Then from then on, it could be
any sort of thing.

680
00:31:57,200 --> 00:31:59,400
So whether it's a church
commitment that I've got three

681
00:31:59,400 --> 00:32:03,240
nights a week or it's going out
to friends dinner, girlfriend's

682
00:32:03,240 --> 00:32:05,960
dinner, going out on a date with
my husband, helping my husband

683
00:32:05,960 --> 00:32:07,600
with the podcast, doing stuff
for the ladies.

684
00:32:07,640 --> 00:32:11,280
I mean, every day differs.
I can tell you that the 6:00 PM

685
00:32:11,280 --> 00:32:13,320
to the 10:00 PM schedule is
insane.

686
00:32:13,480 --> 00:32:17,080
And it differs.
So we find time for dinner in

687
00:32:17,080 --> 00:32:18,400
there.
Yeah, dinner is in there.

688
00:32:18,480 --> 00:32:21,800
The crock pot's a huge help.
But all I have to say every day

689
00:32:21,800 --> 00:32:24,360
differs.
My 8:00 to 6:00 is standard,

690
00:32:24,360 --> 00:32:26,640
which is great.
I like the consistency of having

691
00:32:26,640 --> 00:32:29,640
a job in financial services.
But the evenings could be

692
00:32:29,640 --> 00:32:32,160
podcast, ladies club, husband,
friends, a little bit of

693
00:32:32,160 --> 00:32:33,000
everything.
Family.

694
00:32:33,000 --> 00:32:35,000
Family is huge.
We see them 2-3 nights a week.

695
00:32:35,000 --> 00:32:37,320
So it's all fun.
Yeah.

696
00:32:37,600 --> 00:32:41,080
So one of the goals of the
podcast is to talk with older

697
00:32:41,080 --> 00:32:43,920
professionals, guys that we
would say quote, UN quote were

698
00:32:43,920 --> 00:32:46,440
successful.
And we like to end on asking

699
00:32:46,440 --> 00:32:48,880
them, what advice would you give
to young professionals?

700
00:32:49,280 --> 00:32:52,600
The two of you, we're us three
are all young professionals.

701
00:32:52,600 --> 00:32:55,360
So we're the ones usually
receiving that advice.

702
00:32:55,560 --> 00:32:58,480
But what advice might you give
to someone that's 10th, 11th,

703
00:32:58,480 --> 00:33:01,400
12th grade maybe about to make
that decision to go to college?

704
00:33:02,040 --> 00:33:05,720
Yeah, that's a great question.
So for someone that's a senior

705
00:33:05,720 --> 00:33:08,200
in high school, it differs from
someone that's a senior in

706
00:33:08,200 --> 00:33:11,080
college.
So high schoolers, I would

707
00:33:11,080 --> 00:33:15,280
definitely say get involved,
whether that looks like a job

708
00:33:15,280 --> 00:33:18,280
that you're working.
He's worked at Auntie Anne's,

709
00:33:18,280 --> 00:33:19,840
Auntie Anne's, Auntie Anne's at
the mall.

710
00:33:20,960 --> 00:33:24,280
Hi, babysat is kind of get some
pretzels even days.

711
00:33:24,280 --> 00:33:26,800
High school jobs give you great
experience to prepare you for

712
00:33:26,800 --> 00:33:28,920
not only college but your full
time job down the road.

713
00:33:28,920 --> 00:33:32,160
He says even today that his job
as a waiter at Rafferty, he's

714
00:33:32,160 --> 00:33:34,840
helped him learn so many lessons
that he can apply to his job

715
00:33:34,840 --> 00:33:37,640
today.
Babysitting, having to manage

716
00:33:37,640 --> 00:33:40,400
five children certainly helps me
today when I only have to sit

717
00:33:40,400 --> 00:33:41,600
down in a meeting with two
people.

718
00:33:41,880 --> 00:33:44,960
So, you know, those lessons you
learn working in high school go

719
00:33:44,960 --> 00:33:47,400
a long way.
If you're a college student, I

720
00:33:47,400 --> 00:33:49,080
would highly recommend
internships.

721
00:33:49,080 --> 00:33:51,640
Like I mentioned earlier, my
accounting internship, let me

722
00:33:51,640 --> 00:33:53,360
know, hey, that's not what I
want to do full time.

723
00:33:53,360 --> 00:33:55,200
I like it.
But how do I marry this with

724
00:33:55,200 --> 00:33:57,680
people?
So internships are a must in

725
00:33:57,680 --> 00:34:00,640
college, high school, get a job,
get experience, get connected,

726
00:34:00,640 --> 00:34:04,440
do the clubs right, Beta club,
FCA, whatever it might be, get

727
00:34:04,440 --> 00:34:06,240
involved.
I can't stress that enough.

728
00:34:06,240 --> 00:34:09,080
I was one that was involved in
every organization I could be

729
00:34:09,080 --> 00:34:11,719
involved in.
And that would be my advice.

730
00:34:11,719 --> 00:34:13,280
Don't be scared, put yourself
out there.

731
00:34:13,280 --> 00:34:17,199
And one thing I'll end with in
terms of the advice is something

732
00:34:17,199 --> 00:34:21,679
that's not done anymore that in
my opinion is a must, is

733
00:34:21,679 --> 00:34:24,440
handwritten thank you letters,
handwritten thank you cards.

734
00:34:25,159 --> 00:34:28,679
If someone offers you an
interview for a job or someone

735
00:34:28,679 --> 00:34:32,520
gives you a gift, find their
address and write them a thank

736
00:34:32,520 --> 00:34:34,800
you card.
Those go a long way, especially

737
00:34:34,800 --> 00:34:36,840
in today's times where those are
not done anymore.

738
00:34:36,840 --> 00:34:40,199
So my advice to not just young
professionals but anyone is do

739
00:34:40,199 --> 00:34:42,239
the thank you cards.
It takes 5 minutes and it's

740
00:34:42,239 --> 00:34:45,120
still worth it.
Okay, that was really good.

741
00:34:47,159 --> 00:34:50,800
I think my advice is a little
bit broader, but if you're

742
00:34:50,800 --> 00:34:53,440
interested in something or
you're thinking about doing

743
00:34:53,440 --> 00:34:55,960
something, just do it.
Even if you don't have all the

744
00:34:55,960 --> 00:35:00,200
answers, I think you should just
take the lead and learn along

745
00:35:00,200 --> 00:35:02,520
the way.
My second piece of advice would

746
00:35:02,520 --> 00:35:06,760
be listen to others and
reciprocate, like what they're

747
00:35:06,760 --> 00:35:11,880
saying and like, just, you know,
you'll learn a lot from the

748
00:35:12,160 --> 00:35:15,720
elders, basically experiences to
get that experience.

749
00:35:15,720 --> 00:35:17,640
Yeah.
I love it.

750
00:35:17,760 --> 00:35:19,480
Well, that's cool.
Well, I really appreciate that.

751
00:35:19,480 --> 00:35:22,520
So best of luck to you on your
on your next adventures at the

752
00:35:22,520 --> 00:35:24,080
Ladies Club.
And it's fun to see how much has

753
00:35:24,080 --> 00:35:26,120
grown lately.
But Christina, Sarah, thank you

754
00:35:26,120 --> 00:35:27,480
so much for joining us on the
podcast.

755
00:35:27,480 --> 00:35:30,600
Yes, thank you for having us.
And I do want to say a thank you

756
00:35:30,600 --> 00:35:33,680
to everyone who supports our
clubs, the members, the small

757
00:35:33,680 --> 00:35:36,280
businesses and whoever is
involved month to month.

758
00:35:36,600 --> 00:35:39,360
We appreciate it so much.
It's an amazing opportunity for

759
00:35:39,360 --> 00:35:41,640
the both of us and we can only
imagine what the future holds.

760
00:35:41,880 --> 00:35:43,840
So Keith, thank you for having
us today.

761
00:35:44,000 --> 00:35:46,520
Anyone listening out there, if
you have questions, Sarah and I

762
00:35:46,520 --> 00:35:49,080
are open doors.
Follow us on Instagram.

763
00:35:49,080 --> 00:35:50,960
Yeah, of course, the social
media plug.

764
00:35:51,720 --> 00:35:52,640
Thank you.
Thank you.
